In our post titled “Blog Competition Runner-up” on this blog, we stated with a lot of joy our emergence as the runner-up in the East African region in the Youth in Agriculture Blog Competition (YoBloCo). As a result, the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation ACP-EU (CTA) has sponsored us to attend the prize-giving ceremony in Johannesburg in the land of Azania.
The ceremony will be part of a conference organized by The International
Association of Agricultural Information Specialists (IAALD) Africa Chapter,
whose theme will be “e-Agriculture for
Improved Livelihoods and Food Security in Africa.”
We feel highly honored to have this great opportunity of
representing the farmer whose efforts keep the nation from starving. We are
greatly thankful to CTA for sponsoring Shiriki Organization in this forthcoming
prestigious event. Personally, I am glad to be the one representing my
Organization in the conference.
Thus, I shall be leaving Nairobi for Johannesburg on 19th
May 2012. Events of the ceremony shall begin on Monday 21st till 23rd
May. We look forward to establishing important networks internationally with
individuals and agencies working in the occupation of agriculture which a sacred task graciously
conferred upon man by the Almighty to serve as the source of his well-being and
the basis of his wealth.
We now have added hope and assurance that once again, through Information
Technology, we will help sensitize people on reestablishing the real wealth and
the economy of our beloved people of Afrika, which is primarily based on agriculture.
It is a fact that today small-scale subsistence farming holds the key to the
current global food crisis and at Shiriki Organization we have been and will continue
to volunteer our skills, knowledge and expertise towards empowering the rural
folk practicing small-scale agriculture.
